Friendswood Independent School District
Board of Trustees
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, October 07, 2009

The Friendswood Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve amending an agreement with Terracon Consulting Engineers & Scientists to conduct materials testing at the future natatorium.

The amount was increased by $5,572, for a total of $30,647.

"The additional $5,572.00 is needed due to costs associated with cancellations and retests, $759.00, costs associated with the issues related to the construction of the pool, walls caving in during construction, $1,813.00, and an additional $3,000.00 due to anticipated additional site visits for the structural steel," Superintendent Trish Hanks said.

The school board took no action on an alternate design for a soccer practice field on the existing high school property. The alternate design was presented by Bay Architects, which would have required moving the discus area to a space by the new natatorium.

The school board took no action on personnel and real estate matters. The item was discussed during an executive session.

No other action items were on the agenda. Board Member Denis Ruiz was absent. Agenda
