Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Gordon Charles Cridland, Jr.Gordon Charles Cridland, Jr., 65, of Friendswood, passed away Wednesday, October 07, 2009, at his residence.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 10th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Cox officiating.  Burial will follow the service at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.

Gordon’s family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Friday, October 9th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.

Gordon was born June 5, 1944, in Galveston, TX.  He graduated from Ball High School and attended Sam Houston State University on a baseball scholarship.  Gordon worked for over 30 years as a clerk for ILA Local #1665 in Galveston.  He was a lifelong lover of sports, both playing as well as watching, and he got particular enjoyment out of watching his sons play.  Gordon was an avid Houston Astros and Texas Longhorns fan.  He also loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Gordon Cridland, Sr.

He is survived by his sons, Michael Cridland and wife, Shelly, of Pearland; Mark Cridland, of Friendswood; sister, Patsy Schulz and husband, Bob, of League City; grandchildren: Kaylee, Kate, and Emma Cridland; niece, Stacy Kaiser; nephews: Kevin Newkirk and wife, CiCi; Craig Newkirk and wife, Tara; Gregory Newkirk and wife, Deann; and Rob Schulz and wife, Yvette; special friends, Jonnie Sue Schaper and members of ILA Local #1665; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Cridland, Mark Cridland, Kevin Newkirk, Gregory Newkirk, Craig Newkirk, and Rob Schulz.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roland Chapman, Nelson Byrd, Bill Bell, Albert Choate, Gelindo Micheletti, Jr., Gene Lossow, Don Filidei, Roland Vassallo, Popo Arreayola, John P. Onxley, and Torello Micheletti, his Astros Buddy.

Gordon’s family would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care for their compassionate care.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
