L. T. was born on July 20, 1939, in New Iberia, LA to Herbert and Lillie Wagner Simmons.  A longtime resident of Galveston, he was a retired custodian from the Flagship Hotel and a member of West Point Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Josephine Thompson; two brothers, Joseph and Herman Simmons.

L. T. is survived by his brother, James Simmons (Janell); sisters, Ophelia Josey (Joe T), Bessie Winston (James) all of Texas City, and Stella Hill of Dallas; six nephews; seven nieces, and many other friends.

Special thanks to Bay Oaks' doctors, nurses and staff, especially Dr. Chong and Dr. Gray-Bell for their compassionate care for L. T..

Visitation will begin at 5 PM on Friday, October 16th followed by a wake from 7-8 PM at E R Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 17th at the West Point Baptist Church with Pastor Kerry W. Tillmon officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview cemetery.
