Enrique M. Castro age 88 of Galveston died Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Methodist Hospital  in San Antonio.  Funeral Mass is 10:00 am Saturday, October 24, 2009 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Galveston Father E.J. Stein, OFM, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday with a rosary to be recited at 6:00pm.

Enrique was born February 27, 1921 in Morelos, Coahuila, Mexico to Hilario Castro and Guadalupe Medina Castro. He was a longtime resident of Galveston and a proud husband and father. He was a retired longshoreman and member of ILA Local #20 and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Enrique was preceded in death by his parents, numerous siblings, and his wife of 56 years, Irma de Hoyos Castro in 2002. Survivors include daughters, Elva Amanda Delgado of San Antonio, Irma Rodriguez of Galveston, Aurora Zulaica and husband Hilario of San Antonio, and Graciela Molina and husband Arturo of Galveston; sons, Rolando Castro and wife Mireya of San Antonio, Enrique Castro and wife Adela of Friendswood, Jose Luis Castro and wife Ana of Galveston, Jose Ruben Castro and wife Rose of Dickinson, Jaime Castro and wife Rebecca of Guevara of Morelos, Coahuila, Mexico; 30 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are his sons, Rolando, Enrique, Jose Luis, Jose Ruben, Jaime, and Francisco Eduardo.
