The Hitchcock Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve reconfiguration of the district campuses.
Effective May 2010, Hitchcock Primary School will house pre-kindergarten through second grade, Stewart Elementary School will house third and fourth grades, Crosby Middle School will house fifth through eighth grade, and the remaining grades will attend Hitchcock High School. Effective sometime in 2010-2011, fifth grade students will move from Crosby Middle School to attend Stewart Elementary.
The school board voted unanimously to approve dehumidification of building components at Hitchcock High School at a cost of $59,721 plus $3.50 per square foot for mold remediation only if detected.
The school board voted 4-0-1, with Estelle Holmes abstaining from the vote, to approve changes to the extra duty supplemental pay schedule.
The school board voted unanimously to name Blanca Ochoa as principal of Crosby Middle School.
The school board voted unanimously to postpone action until November on applying for the Texas Education Agency's High School Equivalency Program.
The school board voted unanimously to approve a request by the Port of Galveston for an exemption for 55 acres of land at the "Blimp Base" for a proposed Free Trade Zone.
The school board discussed, but took no action regarding board travel and required training.
All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Board members Pat Turner and Ted Robinson were absent. Agenda
