Marcelina A. Saenz
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Marcelina A. Saenz, 96, of Galveston, born June 2, 1913, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009, at her residence.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Friday, October 23rd, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father E.J. Stein, OFM, as Celebrant.  Burial will follow the service.

The family will receive visitors after 5:00 pm, Thursday, October 22nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm.

Marcelina was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael (Shorty) Saenz, whom she married in 1946 in Galveston; parents, Candelario and Santos Aleman; three brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by her brother, Salvador Aleman, of Mexico; stepson, Miguel Torrialba and wife, Diane, of Galveston; sisters-in-law: Frances Guerrero, of Rosenberg, TX; Carol Ann Rubio and husband, Richard, of Leakey, TX; and Ophelia Tiemann, of Galveston; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Pallbearers will be Mike Torrialba, Joseph Alvarado, Richard Alvarado, Marty Alvarado, PJ Alvarado, and Salvador Aleman, Jr.

Marcelina’s family would like to extend special thanks to sister-in-law, Ophelia Tiemann, who took care of Marcelina 24 hours a day, tending to all her affairs.  They would also like to thank Hospice Care Team, Inc. and the nurses, doctors, and staff of UTMB ER and 10-C for their compassionate care.  They would also like to thank Marcelina’s caretakers, Maria Ramirez and Ampado Martinez; nurse Nicholas Horry with Home Health Care, who was a special angel in Marcelina’s time of need, and Dr. Spangler for all his help during this difficult time.
