Friday, October 23, 2009

Perfect weather greeted first night visitors to the Island Oktoberfest at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Galveston.

Coordinator Robyn Bushong talked to about the event as The Band Haywire began to entertain the growing crowd. Listen: RealPlayer  MP3

The Band Haywire, one of Austin’s most popular Country/Western and contemporary groups, provided music that kept the dance floor busy while others enjoyed a variety of food and drink including smoked sausage, bratwurst, and knockwurst, as well as a variety of German-style beer and wines.

Bushong said that on Saturday, attendees can again look forward to superb entertainment provided by the internationally-acclaimed Alpenfest Band.

In addition to enjoying great German music throughout the day, there will be more great food - including First Lutheran’s famous German Dinner, the opportunity to shop for quality arts, crafts, and gifts - with all booths located in the newly refurbished and restored Lyceum, as well as enjoy a variety of fun games and activities for both children and adults, a fabulous auction, and much more.
