Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to approve a resolution in support of the Alvin Independent School District bond election.
A portion of the city falls within Alvin ISD's boundaries. The school district is holding an election on November 3 for a $70.95 million bond issue. The bond will fund additional school campuses and includes purchasing land for a third high school.
The city council voted unanimously to approve a resolution in support of Proposition 4 in the Texas Constitutional Amendment election, which is also being held on November 3. The proposition establishes a national research university fund to "enable emerging research universities in this state to achieve national prominence as major research universities". The item also transfers the balance of the higher education fund to the national research university fund.
The city council voted unanimously to table a memorandum of understanding with the Pearland Independent School District.
The city council took no action on a lease agreement with Pearland ISD.
The city council took no action on awarding a bid for construction services associated with the Magnolia Road Project's third phase.
