Charles Lynn “Charlie Choo Choo” Merritt, Sr. age 56 of Galveston died, Monday, December 21, 2009 at his residence in Galveston. Funeral services are 11:00 am Wednesday, December 27, 2009 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 9:00 am.  

Survivors include wife, Sharon Brown Merritt; mother, Pinkie Sellers; father; Charles Morgan (Louverta); daughter, Barbara Hatch (Michael); sons, Charles Jerome “CJ” Merritt, Charles Lynn Merritt, Jr., and James “Bubba” Merritt; sisters, Shirley Sellers, Delores Sellers, and Brenda Sellers; brothers Harold James Sellers, Warren Sellers (Cecilia), Michael L. Williams, Wayne Williams, and Donald Williams; 9 grandchildren; special friend, Sally Spurlock; numerous other relatives and friends.
