Pearland City Council

Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to approve a resolution declaring the Kirby Rail Route as the preferred passenger rail route in southern Harris County and within the city limits.

The item had been tabled at a previous meeting.

The city council voted 4-1, with Scott Sherman opposed, to approve a request by the Texas Department of Transportation to alter the speed limit along FM 2234 between State Highway 288 and FM 521.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a resolution "urging the Texas Congressional Delegation to request and support funding for the United States Army Corps of Engineers general re-evaluation report on Clear Creek for the Fiscal Year 2011".

The city council tabled action on the first reading of an ordinance to the Code of Ordinances regarding the recovery of costs incurred by the city in responding to excessive false alarms.

The city council took no action regarding the appointment of a member to the Planning and Zoning Commission.  The item was discussed in an executive session.

The city council took no action regarding pending litigation associated with Cole's Flea Market.  The item was discussed during an executive session.

The city council took no action regarding the sale, lease, purchase or exchange of real property.  The item was discussed during an executive session.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  All members were present.  Agenda

During the meeting, the city recognized Director of Emergency Management Services Jeff Sundseth for his certification as Chief Medical Officer by the Commission on Professional Credentialing from the Center of Public Safety Excellence.
