William (Bill) Stephen Abshire, 63, lost his battle to cancer on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Houston.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Baurs officiating.

Bill was born August 6, 1946, in Cleburne, Texas.  He was a Sgt. in the US Marine Corps.  He served in the Vietnam War from 1968 until 1969.  Bill worked as a glazier for numerous glass companies before his retirement in 2008.  He enjoyed playing golf and fishing.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Vyvyan Rechnagel and Ralph Abshire.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Abshire; daughter, Lori Rose, Cari McCann and husband, Jason; and Debbie Franco and husband, Anthony; brother, James Abshire; grandchildren: Lauren Franco, Allison Franco, Nicholas Rose, Tanner Rose, Jake McCann, Kennedy McCann, and Matthew McCann.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in Bill’s honor.
