Walter W. Gill, Sr.
Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home

Walter W. Gill, Sr.Walter W. Gill, Sr., 87, died at 8:46 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010, in a local care center.

He was a native of Oberlin and lived in Sulphur for the last 32 years. Walter attended and was a former deacon of Houston River Baptist Church. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of the NRA. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps. He served in the American Theatre EAMB W/4 Bronze Stars, Good conduct Air Medal w/3 Bronze cluster.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years Marjorie Gill of Sulphur; son Charles Eldrid Gill and his wife Jane of Hardin, TX; daughter Sharon Thibodeaux and her husband James of Beaumont, TX; sister Betty Vellion; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son Walter Wilbert Gill, Jr.

His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 29, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Oakland Springs Cemetery in Oberlin. Rev. Lonnie Gothrup will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday and from 8-10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
