GALVESTON - Willie Franklin, Jr., 65, departed this life on February 3, 2010, at his residence.
Willie was born October 5, 1944, in Richmond, Texas to Willie, Sr. and Sedalia Ellis Franklin.
He was retired from Ideal Lumber Co. after 50 years of dedicated service. He also worked for the City of Galveston and as a chauffeur. He loved zyedeco music, playing card, dominoes and talking with his CB club "Sinking Island".
Preceding him in death was his parents; son, John ; great-grandchild, Christian Pine; brothers, Joseph Franklin and Ulysess Richmond; sisters, Addie Hawkins, Arletha Franklin, Dorothy Branch and Vernon Richmond.
He leaves behind to celebrate his life, his wife of 47 years, Josephine Franklin; children, Janice Williams, Josephine Thompson, Willie Franklin III, Aretha Howard, Sharon Miller, Sherry Thompson, Joeneisha Thompson, Albert Williams and Jonathan Baker, 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Herman Franklin, Barbara Madison, Johnny Ellis and Janice Franklin; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12th, beginning at 4 PM followed by a wake from 7-8 PM at Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary.
A service celebrating his life will held Saturday, February 13, 2010, at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Rev. E. R. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
