NEW SIGNAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF SH 35 AND FM 1459 IN BRAZORIA COUNTY
There is a new fully operational four–way signal in Brazoria County located at the intersection of SH 35 and FM 1459. The upgraded signalized intersection opened today with the new signal replacing the previous flashing warning lights system. The fully operational signal, which will now cycle through red, yellow and green, was installed to enhance safety and in response to recurring public demands and collaboration with Brazoria County Commissioner Mary Ruth Rhodenbaugh.
“Over the years there were numerous traffic studies conducted however the intersection did not meet the necessary criteria to warrant installation until the latest 2008 study,” said Stuart Corder, TxDOT Houston District Director of Traffic Operations.
TxDOT is pleased to announce that the signal is now fully operational and advises motorists to be extra cautious in the area specifically while drivers acclimate to the new operational features to prevent accidents related to habitual driving and driver inattentiveness.
