Lucious Hicks, Jr. 81, departed this life on Monday, February 15, 2010 at College Station Medical Center.
Lucious was born March 6, 1928, in Brazos County, TX to Lucious, Sr. and Sarah Emerson Hicks. A longtime resident of Texas City before moving to Bryan, Texas, he was retired from Union Carbide Refinery after 37 years of service, served in the U S Army and was honorably discharged. He also was a member of the Prince Hall F.& A.M. Lodge # 373, the Consistory and a Shriner with the El Katif Temple.
Preceding him in death was his parents; two sisters, and a brother. He is survived by his sons, Lucious Hicks IV, Lucious Bernard Hicks, Kevin Ray Hicks, and George White; daughters, Gwendolyn Beavers, Shelia White, Stephanie Hicks, Rene Colvin, Petreat Hicks, and Carolyn Hicks; host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; devoted mother of his children, Lula Bishop; host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 22nd from 4-8 PM at Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary. A service celebrating his life will begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at Mt Paran Baptist Church with Pastor W.W. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, TX.
