Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Manuel T. Rodriguez, SrManuel T. Rodriguez, Sr. age 94 of Galveston died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral Mass is 10:00 am Monday, March 15, 2010 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Father E.J. Stein, OFM celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm.

Born June 17, 1915 in Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico to Jacinto Rodriguez and Valeriana Torres Rodriguez, Manuel retired from the Moody Cotton Compress in Galveston with over 30 years of service. After many years at age 85 Manuel became a U. S. Citizen, something he was very proud of. He was a great husband and father who spent his retirement years with his family and teaching his grandchildren. He was an avid Houston Astros Fan and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church family.

Preceded in death by his parents and wife of 57 years, Juana Rodriguez, survivors include daughters, Lazara Rodriguez of Cerritos, Mexico, Irma Trevino and husband Raymond, Jr. of Galveston, and Oralia Frailey and husband Scott of Friendswood; sons, Ruben Rodriguez and wife Rosa of San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Jose Angel Rodriguez, Sr. and wife Margarita of Houston, Manuel L. Rodriguez, Jr. and wife Esther of League City, Jacinto Rodriguez and wife Juanita of Houston, Hector Rodriguez of Galveston and Robert Rodriguez and wife Lilia of La Marque;  26 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are his grandsons, Raymond Trevino, III, Manuel Rodriguez, III, Robert A. Rodriguez, Jose Angel Rodriguez, Jr., Benjamin Rodriguez and Rick Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers are Ignacio Alcala, David Trevino, Nicholas Alcala, Petty Officer 3rd Class-Daniel “Danny” Alcala, US Coast Guard, Christopher Frailey and Matthew Frailey.
