Raymond Dallas Davis, Jr
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Raymond Dallas Davis, Jr. age 81 of Galveston died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Christus St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay. Funeral services are 10:00 am Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday with a wake to be held at 7:00pm.

Raymond was born April 26, 1928 in Galveston to Dallas Raymond Davis and Mary Elizabeth Almanza Davis.  He retired from Galveston Blue Print Company with 28 years of service and then from the City of Galveston Housing Department with 17 years of service. Raymond was a Korean War Veteran.  He was active for many years in, Little League, Pony League and Mickey Mantle –Connie Mack Baseball League in Galveston for more than 30 years.  He was a member of the Local VFW and American Legion Associations.   Raymond was an active outdoors mans from shrimping with his father in law, fishing with friends and family, oystering, and seining in the gulf to deer hunting. He was always right there to go do any of these things as early as 3 am in the morning.  

Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather Roy Johnson, and his brother Ernest Sanchez; brother in law Deward Barker and his father in law Sovola L. Huskey Sr and mother in law Nora Roberta Huskey. Raymond is survived by his wife of Fifty years, Betty Joyce Huskey Davis; daughter, Stephaine Davis Blasé, son –in –law Ronald L. Blasé and granddaughter Ashleigh K. Blasé all of Galveston;  sister, Caroline Barker of Cleburne, Texas, sister and Brother in laws Leona Huskey and Arthur O. Kohn Sr. of Santa Fe, Texas and Francina and Sovola L. Huskey Jr. of , Allen, Texas; .Nephews; Arthur O Kohn Jr and wife Mara, Timothy R. Kohn and wife Pamela and Mark S. Kohn, Keith H. Huskey and wife Rhonda. Nieces Marietta Huskey Frazier and husband Don, Marla Homes and husband Bruce and Vicky Barker. Also surviving are numerous great nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers are Donald Gavin, Timothy R. Kohn, Johnny Shaw, Travis Shipley, Michael Slabbaert, and John Tunnell. Honorary Pallbearers; William Alex Purdy (Poncho), Arthur O Kohn Sr., Arthur O Kohn Jr, Sovola L Huskey Jr., Keith H. Huskey  and Billy Praker.

In lieu of flowers, Raymond requested condolences be sent to Coastal Community Federal Credit Union in the name of his wife Betty Davis and Grand Daughter Ashleigh Blasé so that his wife will be taken care of and his granddaughter can continue her college education.
