Brazoria County Commissioners Court on Tuesday voted 4-1, with Judge Joe King opposed, to approve a request from the aviation director to change the name of the Brazoria County Airport to the Texas Gulf Coast Regional Airport, and to change the logo of the airport.

The changes will take effect in October. 

The commissioners court voted 4-1, with Dude Payne opposed, to approve a tax increment participation agreement with the City of Manvel.

The commissioners court voted 4-1, with Payne opposed, to approve a tax increment participation agreement with the City of Iowa Colony.

The agreements are for Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 2, which was created by the City of Manvel.

The commissioners court voted 4-0-1, with Matt Sebesta abstaining, to approve an order applying Subchapter F, Chapter 233 of the Texas Local Government Code to certain residential construction.

The application of the state law requires all residential construction in unincoporated areas of the county to be subject to inspections by a county inspector.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve amendments to the articles of incorporation and bylaws of the Gulf Coast Community Protection and Recovery District.

The district was formed to develop projects to protect the gulf coast region from storm damage.  Currently, the district is participating in the "Ike Dike" project.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a contract with Prime Strategies in an amount not to exceed $35,000, for transportation planning services.  Prime Strategies will provide services in connection with the Texas Department of Transportation's 2010 State Highway 36 pass-through program.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to enter into an interlocal agreement with Alvin Community College.  Under the agreement, either party will be allowed to utilize contracts of the other party.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint Floodplain Administrator Kelly Hamby as 911 Administrator.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Ravi Singhania, Steve Carroll and Gerald Andrews to the Tax Abatement Review Committee.  All three of the members will serve a two-year term ending in March of 2012.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a total of $1,204.96 in waivers of penalties and interest on delinquent taxes on various properties.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to advertise for bids for the generator project.  The generator project will be completed using grant money provided through the Texas Department of Rural Affairs.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  All members were present.  Agenda
