Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Percy A. DeJeanPercy A. DeJean age 90 of Galveston passed from this earthly existence into eternal life 5:25 am, Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, Texas. Funeral services are 10:00 am Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston, Father E. J. Stein OFM, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston. Visitors may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 from 5:00pm until 8:00 pm.

Percy was born May 31, 1919 and was Baptized into the Catholic Church on July 4, 1919 in Church Point, Louisiana. He spent most of his career making lifelong friends and managing various departments for Sears Roebuck in Galveston and retired from there in 1991. Percy was a kind and gentle soul who loved God, the Catholic Church, his family and friends. He wished peace and happiness to all who read this notice.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alcee and Bathilda (David) DeJean, his beloved wife Gladys (Glaze) DeJean and eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by several loving nieces and nephews, good neighbors and many old friends. Through the tragedy named Hurricane IKE, Percy lost his home, but gained a new extended family at the Katyville Nursing Facility in Katy Texas, for which his family and friends are grateful beyond words.

Percy and his family ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church in Galveston, where Percy attended until he was no longer able.

Friends may sign the register book and send the family condolences at www.carnesbrothers.com/contactus. Please include the DeJean name.
