Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to change the name of the Southeast Texas Regional Airport to "Jack Brooks Regional Airport", and directing the airport manager to obtain approvals from the Federal Aviation Administration and other regulatory authorities to officially change the airport's name.

The commissioners court had received a presentation concerning renaming the airport in honor of the former Congressman.  Hubert Oxford, III had requested changing the airport's name.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to name Don Rao as the authorized representative of the county for the execution of demolition certificates on properties demolished under the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program buy-outs.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to issue a proclamation recognizing April as Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.

The commissioners court tabled action on a proclamation to declare the week of April 18-24 as Crime Victims' Week.

The commissioners court tabled action on a Hospital Services Agreement with Memorial Hermann Hospital System.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to renew a term contract with Division One, Inc. for microfilm supplies.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a $58,600 job order contract with Centerline Construction, Inc. for repairs to the Walter Umphrey State Park restrooms.  The restrooms were damaged during Hurricane Ike.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a $137,926 job order contract with Centerline Construction for repairs of the maintenance building at Walter Umphrey Park.  The building was also damaged during Hurricane Ike.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to proclaim the week of April 11-17 as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a grant application by the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office to the Office of the Governor's Criminal Justice Division for the Family Violence/Crimes Against Women Unit.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote.  Commissioner Eddie Arnold was absent.  Agenda
