La Marque City Council on Monday voted unanimously to hire Olson and Olson, LLC, to represent the city in pending litigation involving the case of Big State Excavation vs. City of La Marque.
The item was discussed during an executive session. The case is being heard in the 122nd Judicial District Court. According to the complaint filed by Big State Excavation, the company was contracted by the city to provide construction of drainage improvements, and claims that the city has not paid $340,335 owed for the project. The city council postponed action regarding an appointment to the Planning and Zoning Commission to replace Carlton Getty. Getty was recently appointed as Alternate Municipal Judge.
The city council voted unanimously to approve a resolution authorizing the Galveston County Mosquito Control District to perform aerial spraying for the abatement of mosquitoes.
The resolution is required each year by the Federal Aviation Administration.
