The Texas City Independent School District Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve an order of cancellation for elections for District 1 and District 2 in the May 8 board election.
Incumbents Melba Anderson and Manuel Guajardo, Jr. are unopposed and will serve another term in District 1 and District 2, respectively. The school will still hold elections for the District 4 seat, which is a race between Kyle Dickson and Bryan Thompson. Phil Roberts, who currently holds the District 4 seat, did not file for re-election.
The school board voted unanimously to approve an agreement with the City of Texas City for the Levi Fry Pedestrian Bridge.
The school board voted unanimously to approve the district's membership in the Smokestack School Coalition.
The school board voted unanimously to approve the budget for the Enhancing Education Through Technology Program, which will be funded through federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grants.
The school board voted unanimously to approve an agreement with Interquest Detection Canines of Southeast Texas to provide sniff dogs for the detection of prohibited items on school grounds.
