Dickinson City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve a Fire Protection Services Agreement with the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department.
The item has already received approval from the fire department.
"This has been negotiated over a lengthy period, and council is very pleased to get this matter finally done," Dickinson City Council Member Kerry Neves said in a report he gave on the meeting. Report
The city council had originally approved an agreement with the fire department in January, but was advised that the agreement was "unacceptable" to the fire department.
The resolution repeals the previous services agreement and replaces it with an agreement approved by the fire department.
The city council voted unanimously to direct City Administrator Julie Johnston to send a letter stating the city's opposition to the Mariposa at Calder Road development at FM 517 and FM 646 in League City.
"Our opposition is based on traffic and safety issues, given the nature of FM 517 in that area, as well as the anticipated opening in the area of a new elementary school," Neves said.
The city council voted unanimously to appoint Ernie Murrie as the election judge for the May 8 election. The city council also authorized the hiring of as many as three clerks to assist in the election.
The city council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with HDR/Claunch & Miller Engineering, Inc. for engineering services. HDR/Claunch & Miller Engineering will provide services in the reconstruction of Sunset Drive from Timber to Highway 3 and Oakridge Drive and 44th Street.
The city council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with Pate Engineers, Inc. for engineering services. Pate Engineering will provide services in the reconstruction of Avenue J and Lovers Lane.
The city council took no action regarding the annual evaluation of Johnston. The item was discussed during an executive session.
The city council voted unanimously to approve $4,250 for the purchase of bedding plants for landscaping at the City Hall/Library Complex.
The city council took no action on award of a quote for the installation of a manual emergency transfer switch for electrical service at City Hall.
The city council took no action regarding award of a quote for the installation of a door operating system for the main entrance at City Hall.
The city council discussed, but took no action on updates for various public works projects, including the Lovers Lane Reconstruction Project, the Cherry Street Bridge Reconstruction Project and the drainage project at 5210 Winding Brook.
The city council discussed, but took no action regarding Hurricane Ike Community Development Block Grand projects.
The city council discussed, but took no action regarding roof repairs at the Historic Railroad Depot and Museum. The city will bring quotes for the cost of materials being considered for replacing the roof shingles.
The city council discussed, but took no action regarding the Red, White & Bayou Crawfish and Texas Music Festival.
The city council heard a presentation from the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership concerning funding for the Johnson Space Center and NASA's Constellation Program.
