James J. Simmons
Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary

James J. Simmons "Crab"James J. Simmons "Crab" 61, departed this life April 6, 2010, at UTMB Hospital.  James was born November 27, 1948, in Galveston to the late Herbert and Lily Simmons. He was retired from the City of Galveston.

 He was preceded in death by his parents;  four brothers, and one sister.  He leaves to cherish memories, wife, Genell Simmons; son, Gregory Holbert; stepdaughter, Janice Evans; sisters, Betsy Winston (James), Ophelia Josey (J.T.), Stella Fields; three grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will begin at 4PM followed by a wake from 7- 8 PM on today, April 16th. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Fields- Johnson Family Mortuary with Pastor Timothy Allen, Sr. officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
