Ruth Mae Jefferson

Ruth Mae JeffersonRuth Mae Jefferson, 86,  received her reward of eternal rest on April 22, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas.

 Ruth was born on February 26, 1924 in Thompson, TX to the late Henry and Beulah Gipson, Sr.  Ruth was reared in Thompson, Texas, but she has been a longtime resident of Galveston.  She was united in Holy Matrimony to William Jefferson .  Ruth had a very special love for her family.  Ruth was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church.  She was also a member of the Court of Calanthe  Unity Court #101.  She worked as a Nurse's Assistant at UTMB Hospital for 20 years until her retirement.  

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and sister.  She leaves to cherish the memories of her life husband, William Jefferson; daughters, Doris Coleman of Torrence, CA, Janice Johnson of Houston, Henrietta Conley of Texas City, Delores Isaac (Ronald) of LaMarque; grandchildren, James Lockett of Palm Bay Florida, Sgt. Major Roderick Coleman of Japan, LaTonia (Michelle, Roussell (Eugene) of Houston, Tamia Coleman, Rayfield Conley III of League City, Rochinee Coleman of Torrence, CA, Meosha Davis, Deosha Anderson (Dwuan) both of Texas City; ten great grandchildren; four great great grand children; brothers, Henry Gipson, Jr. (Jennie), Herman Gipson both of Houston; sisters, Thelma Larry (Ed) of Missouri City; brother- in-law, Paul Prince of Houston; sister-in-law, Jerlee Owens (Lawrence) of Texas City, Idella Turner of Houston; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010, at Live Oak Baptist Church, followed by a service to celebrating her life at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. V.L. Baines officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Booth, Texas.
