Tanz Nicole DayTanz Nicole Day, 31, departed this life on Sunday May 2, 2010, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.

Tanz was born May 2, 1979, in Galveston.  She was educated in the Galveston and Hitchcock School Districts. She was a youth build student where she received her building trade certificate and also was a  former CNA with Gulf Health Care. She was devoted to helping the elderly and her work, when it came to helping others, she would not hesitate to give her last. She was full of life and enjoyed making others laugh.

Waiting with open arms to receive Tanz at her new home are her grandfathers, John B. Day and Daniel Simmons, Jr.; great grandmother, Beulah Porter; uncle, Wayne Williams; aunt, Sheryl Day; cousins, Andrea Williams, Darrel Florence, Charlie (Chucky) Day.

Tanz leaves precious memories of her laughter, jokes, and smiles, with her children, Andre Garner, Jr., T'Andre Garner, Kelvina Phillips, Kefflin Phillips; Godchild, A'ryah Hart; parents, Lisa Day (Carl), Donald Jones (Wine); brothers, Tim Day, Marvin August, Kenneth Benjamin, Roy August, Donald Maxey ; sisters, LaQuisha Day, Bobbie York, Jacqueline Lee, Ebony Richard, Brandi Richard; grandparents, Lola Day, Lavern Jones; uncles, Thomas Day, John Day, Jerome Day, Evron Day, Kevin Day; aunts, Patricia Williams, Sandra Day-George (Clifford), Gwendolyn Outland, Barbara Simmons; nephews, Charlie Scott, Markquez Turner, Terrell Day, Timothy Day, Jr., Keon Day, Jayden Richard, Christian Richard; nieces, Ayannah (Yani) Blake, Javaria Howard, Brittany August; special friend, Courtney James; extended family, Kent Jenkins (Lula), and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday, May 7th, followed by a wake from 7-9 PM at Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary.  A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Mt Olive Baptist Church, (3602 Sealy, Galveston) Rev. Norris D. Burkley, Sr. Pastor, Rev. Nathaniel Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, TX.
