Galveston, Texas – Seventy-five posters were presented at this year's Student Research Symposium, setting a new record.
The overall winners in the undergraduate division were Eric Miller in first place, Cara Valinoti in second place and Jennifer Lawrence in third place. Eric Miller's Marine Science poster was "Isolation and Characterization of Exopolymeric Substances (EPS) from the Marine Phytoplankton Dunaliella tertiolecta."
Undergraduate division winners by category were: Ted Harrison for Maritime Administration, Carlos Traveria for Marine Engineering Technology, Eric Miller for Marine Science, Cara Valinoti for Marine Biology, Jennifer Lawrence for Ocean and Coastal Resources and Reaz Mohmend for Maritime Systems Engineering.
The overall winners in the graduate division were Jeffrey Simms in first place, Courtney Horne in second place, and Allison Parnell in third place.
