Donna "Joanne" Alvarado
Malloy & Son Funeral Home

Donna "Joanne" AlvaradoDonna "Joanne" Alvarado, 78, of Galveston, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010, at Gulf Health Care Center in Galveston.

Her family will receive visitors beginning at 1:00 pm, Saturday, June 5th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm.

Joanne was born July 11, 1931, in Harvard, Nebraska.  She worked for many years in the healthcare industry in various positions in Minneapolis, MN and in Galveston.  Joanne was an avid reader and history buff, loved to debate politics, and was a huge baseball fan.  She spent many an hour at the beach and was an active member of the Galveston Historical Foundation.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Blanche Wycoff; mother- and father-in-law, Louis P. and Pauline Alvarado; best friend and brother-in-law, Paul Alvarado; and grandson, Austin Pitzer.

She is survived by her husband, Louis C. Alvarado; son, Tony Pitzer and wife, Rebecca; grandchildren: Angela Maki and husband, Phil; Lisa Kennedy and husband, Ryan; and Mercedes Pitzer; great grandchildren: Ethan, Makayla, Ella, Lilyana, and Olivia; and numerous other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Rosenberg Library, 2310 Sealy, Galveston, TX 77550, or to the Galveston Historical Foundation, 502 20th Street, Galveston, TX 77550.
