GALVESTON, Texas – Galveston will celebrate the 4th of July in style with events held across the Island, fireworks each night of the holiday weekend and a traditional hometown parade and celebration throughout the streets of the historic downtown.

Friday night, June 2, Moody Gardens kicks off the festive weekend with Bands on the Sand. Ezra Charles & Texas Blues Band will take the stage at Palm Beach from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for just $6. An encore fireworks display will conclude the night’s events.

On Saturday, join in the fun during the Historic Downtown 4th of July Parade. Decorate a bicycle, tricycle, golf cart, skates, horses, wagons, carriages, floats, or any other favorite mode of transportation and join in the parade. All organizations, businesses, civic, church and musical groups, individuals and families are welcome. Participation in the parade requires pre-registration, but is free and fun for everyone. Line up begins at 9 a.m. and the parade begins at 10 a.m. Parade registration and information is available on The Partnership’s website: www.downtowngalveston.org.

Conclude Saturday night with a bang as KRBE 104.1 FM and Island Star Performances present Island Jam featuring American Idol winner Kris Allen live in concert, July 3 at the Moody Gardens Outdoor Amphitheater. Gates to the event will open at 5 p.m. with Kris Allen taking the stage at 8 p.m. As soon as the concert ends, Moody Gardens will light up the sky over Offats Bayou with a spectacular fireworks show.

Independence Day, Sunday, July 4, will be a day of fun in the sun at the beach with the City of Galveston annual Fireworks display closing out the night at 9 p.m. on 37th St. and Seawall Blvd.
