Neighbors & Concerts in the Park Series Opens in Sprott Park
Beaumont, Texas – The City of Beaumont will kick off its 2010 Neighbors & Concerts in the Park series with a Juneteenth Celebration in Sprott Park on Saturday, June 19.
Admission to the event is free, and vendors will provide food and drinks for sale. Activities include face-painting and games. The City will provide free immunizations and host a blood drive and voter registration.
Live music begins at 4 p.m. with zydeco acts Lil’ Wayne & Same Ol’ Two Step, followed by Brian Jack. This year, the city has added a barbecue cook-off to the festivities. There is a $50 entry fee, and prizes for first, second and third place and best of show will be awarded.
“Last year’s event drew nearly 1,200 people to the park, and we’re hoping for an even bigger crowd this year,” said Stacey Lewis, Recreation Program Coordinator for the City of Beaumont. “This event brings together not only neighbors, but people from other cities and states to enjoy what Beaumont has to offer.”
