Bay Area Houston Magazine’s 10th Anniversary Party

The Bay Area Houston Magazine’s 10th Anniversary party at the fabulous Cullen’s Upscale American Grille on June 10, 2010, was party making at its best with fun, friendship, and laughter. The Bay Area Houston community came out to congratulate President/CEO Rick Clapp, and to help celebrate the success of the Bay Area Houston Magazine’s 10th anniversary. It was a very special and memorable evening with wonderful appetizers from Cullen’s, great music by the Jando Band, and roses for all the ladies. 

Clapp started his first publication, BayRunner Magazine, in 1993. BayRunner Magazine was one of the first media publications that had a webpage “BayRunner Extra” in 1998. In 1999, he launched the Baycomber Magazine, and changed the name of the magazine to Bay Area Houston Magazine in 2007. In 2009, Clapp created the first webcast combining traditional media, as well as social media - the Bay Area Houston Alive Baycast,


Outside of being the President/CEO of Bay Area Houston Magazine, Clapp writes a monthly magazine column On My Mind, teaches “The importance of Utilizing Traditional and Social Media in Business”, and serves on many boards, local community and charitable organizations.


Clapp has received many honors and awards over the years. He was recently honored with TAACCL’s “Renaissance Men” Award on February 20, 2010. The best words to describe Rick Clapp are Visionary, Creator, Globetrotter, Community and Civic Leader, and Connoisseur of Life.  Nicknamed “Panda”, Clapp is referred by many as “the Ted Turner of Bay Area”.
