Brazoria County Commissioners Court on Tuesday voted unanimously to apply for assistance from the Texas General Land Office in cleaning and maintaining public beaches for fiscal year 2011.
The county is requesting $166,600 in funding to clean and maintain the 60,800 linear feet of beach. The total cost of cleaning and maintaining public beaches is estimated at $249,000.
The commissioners court voted to authorize temporary use of several county roads by the city of Damon. The city will use the roads on July 3 for its American Pride Day Parade.
The commissioners court voted to increase filing fees for civil cases in county courts by $5. The fees will be used for digitizing court records and preserving records from natural disasters.
The commissioners court voted to appoint a committee to evaluate offers for inmate and public phones. The commissioners court appointed Gene Wittneben, Pam Hendrick, Captain Gilbert Gardner, and HenriJean Loessin as voting members and Charles Crook as a non-voting member.
The commissioners court voted to approve an estimated expenditure of $22,650, to be paid on a time and materials basis, to Carroll & Blackman, Inc. for environmental services to assist in the development of Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure plans. The plans are required by the Clean Water Act.
