Marvin Oscar Jones, Sr.Marvin Oscar Jones, Sr. age 60 of Texas City passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. Funeral services are 1:00 pm Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home in Galveston with Deacon Henry Herrera and Pastor Arnold Morton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday with a rosary to be recited at 6:30pm.

Marvin was born August 21, 1949 in Galveston, Texas to Willie Marvin Jones and Dora Jaurigue Jones. He was a member of the Ball High School class of 1967 and worked many years as a heavy equipment operator and foreman with the City of Galveston. Marvin was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Galveston; he enjoyed camping, barbecuing and spending time with his family and his beloved pets, “Goliath and Maxie.” Mr. Jones was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan with a giant heart. Marvin will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, survivors include his wife, Doris Garza Jones of Texas City; daughters, Dora Michelle Jones of Pasadena, and Samantha Denise Jones of Galveston; sons, Willie Marvin Jones and wife Laura of League City, and Marvin Oscar Jones, Jr. and wife Kassie of Texas City; step sons, Anthony Joseph Kiamar, Jr., and Francisco Jose Rivera both of Texas City; sisters, Dolores Hernandez and husband Frank, Consuelo Casarez, and Denise Jones Gonzalez and husband Tino, all of Galveston; brothers, Edward A. Jones and wife Dee of Galveston, Dennis Michael Jones and Pamela Gulis of Texas City, and Robert Paul Jones of Galveston; a devoted cousin, E.B. Jaurigue, Jr. of Galveston; devoted aunt and uncle, Nora and Ed Brooks of Galveston; a godchild, Nicole Nadine Jones of Galveston; 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Dennis Jones, Robert Jones, Edward Jones, Tino Gonzalez, Willie Marvin Jones and Marvin Oscar Jones, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Joseph Kiamar, Jr., Francisco Jose Rivera, and E.B. Jaurigue, Jr.
