Lenora Faye Toatley-CloseLenora Faye Toatley-Close, 71, fell asleep in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father, on July 7, 2010 at UTMB Hospital in Galveston.  Lenora was born on April 24, 1939 in Galveston; she was the baby girl of three children born to the late Leonard and Bernice Toatley.  Lenora was educated in the Galveston school district, and she graduated with Central High School class of 1957.  On November 17, 1958, Lenora married Robert T. Close, born to this union were four children; Ronnie, Carlene, Avis, and Felicia.  They enjoyed many precious years together.  Lenora was a devoted housewife and a loving mother and grandmother.  She was an adored mother, grandmother, sister, and every ones favorite aunt.  She had a joyous spirit, who could always make you laugh.  Lenora was loved by so many people, her life was manifested in fun and laughs, reminding us that, love never dies.

Waiting at Heaven's door to receive Lenora are her parents, husband, Robert Close; brothers-in-law, James Close and Raymond Harris.  Left to cherish the memories of her loving smile, laughs, and joyous spirit are her children Ronnie L. Toatley (Brenda), Carlene Close Harris, Avis M. Close, Felicia P. Close; grandchildren, Ronniel (Aletha), Ronnie Jr., Reshea ( Gary), Renitra, Ronnica, (Larry) Toatley, Ashley Little, Kim Anderson, Fredrick G. Ward, Jr., Quincy Tucker, Creshonda, Jalonick, Tiffany Collins, Christina Randle; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; Sisters, Doris Toatley Miller (David), Irma Toatley Davis (Jalonick); brother-in-law, Norman Close (Nettie); sisters-in-law, Etta Butler, Delores Harris, Arline Close, Emily Close Ward; devoted friends, Barbara Smith and Joyce Toatley; and a host of friends and other relatives. 

Visitation will begin at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 followed by a service to celebrate her life at 1:00 pm at Gospel Baptist Church (3818 Ball), with Pastor Nathaniel Brown officiating.
