Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Daniel Alan PolkDaniel Alan Polk age 17 of Galveston passed away early Friday morning, July 16, 2010 at John Sealy Hospital. Funeral services are 10:00 am Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Galveston Bible Church Rev. Clay Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.  The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Daniel was born August 3, 1992 in Galveston, to Genaro Puente, III and Elizabeth G. Polk. He was a 2010 graduate of Ball High School where he excelled in art and was in the ROTC. Daniel was soon to be the proud father of a baby boy when his life was prematurely ended. He was looking forward to joining the U.S. Navy and going to school to study to become a Chiropractor. Daniel was raised in the Galveston Bible Church under Pastor Clay Thomas and was currently attending the Island Church with his fiancé and mother of his child, Melissa Archuleta.

Survivors include his fiancé, Melissa Archuleta; his mother, Elizabeth G. Polk-Holtel; father, Genaro Puente, III; sisters, Valencia “Bunny” Puente, Keisha Ross , Tameka Johnson, Nicole Johnson and Menesha Johnson; brothers, Jacob Polk, Brian Polk, Larry Puente ,Isaiah Puente, Leto Puente, Steven Harrison, and Shaun Ross ; numerous other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers are Anthony Aleman, Brian Polk, Ira Johnson, IV, and Jacob Polk.
