Judy Gail BroughtonGALVESTON- Judy Gail Broughton age 66 of Galveston passed away peacefully Thursday, July 22, 2010 at her residence in Galveston surrounded by her family. Funeral services are 10:00 am Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at First Lutheran Church Rev. Doug Guthier officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home.  The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Judy was born December 12, 1943 in San Angelo, Texas to Grandville Walker and Leona Low Walker. She spent the majority of her life in Galveston and after receiving her GED from Ball High School she obtained her diploma from the Galveston Business College. Before an automobile accident in 1979, that left her paralyzed, she was employed as a bookkeeper at the Seahorse Bowling Alley and A-1 Rents. Even after her accident, she continued to be involved in a variety of activities including the Galveston Lassie League where she served on the board of directors.

Preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Glen Alton Walker, Judy was loved by everyone especially her devoted husband of 42 years, Dennis Broughton of Galveston; her sister Treva Gibson of Fort Worth; her daughters, and their husbands,, Cheryl Zvanja Zunker and John of League City, Debbie Hopkins and Chris of Galveston, and Dawn (Dee Dee) Little and Bill of Corinth, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle and Cory Zunker, Brooke and Addison Hopkins, Benjamin, Katie and Luke Little, step grandchildren, Lyndsey and Allen Hopkins, numerous other relatives and friends.

Casket bearers are Troy Bermundez, Steve Thompson, Kyle Zunker, Cory Zunker, Allen Hopkins, and Anthony Zvanja.

Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations may be sent to First Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
