Inez Coleman Elmore

Inez Coleman ElmoreInez Coleman Elmore was born September 1, 1919 in Robeline LA and went home to be with the Lord on July 28, 2010, at Gulf Health Care Center in Galveston. Visitation will be held at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home, 1201 Tremont, Galveston TX from 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 with Service to follow at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Jiles offficiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston.

Inez, known to many as “Kitten”, was the last survivor of 9 children born to Eck and Emma Winn Coleman. She was blessed with one daughter in 1947, Kathy, with her first husband Norwell Fisher (deceased).  In 1954 she married John Elmore and they remained together until his death in October 1999.

Having known the love of Jesus Christ from an early age she has been a member of Wesley Tabernacle United Methodist Church since 1948 and was known for her sweet soft voice and beautiful smile.

During this time Inez devoted her time and talents to her faith and family and served as member of the following organizations, United Methodist Women, The Alkalights, Usher Board, Court of Colante and Circle #7 until her health failed.

Inez leaves to celebrate her life and home going: her daughter Kathy (John) Allen, one step daughter, Violet McKinney of Beaumont TX, one grandson, Shawn (Hallie) Allen, great grandchildren, Kobie Allen, Quincy Allen, Tatum Alston, Cathy Lynn Creamer, and Malik Allen (deceased). One special sister Earnestine Smith (deceased).  Five nieces, Sallie Coleman of Galveston TX, Ollie Jones (Shea) of Hartford CT, Fannie Coleman Lundy of Houston TX, Jackie Coleman Julian of Houston TX and Delores Hilton of Los Angeles CA.  Great nephews, Mark Lewis (Denise), Jelani Jones, Fred McBride (Juliet), Jesse McBride, Booker Williams Jr, and Michael Lundy. Great nieces, Jessica McBride, Anne Lewis and Marlette Clouser.  Special friends that have always been there for her, Frankie Jackson, Valerie Hinton, Catherine Broddie, Elizabeth A. Mitchell and a host of other relatives and friends.
