Mary Ruth White
Fields-Johnson Family Mortuary

Mary Ruth White, 66, received her reward of eternal rest on Monday, August 9, 2010, at Mainland Medical Center.

Mary was born July 22, 1944, to Leon Gordon and Hattie Sellers Carlisle. She united with the Rising Star Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. D.N. Benford, and later joined the Avenue L Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. E.R. Johnson, and remained a faithful member until the Lord called her home.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Feast (Nolbert); father, Leon Gordon; sons, Anthony and Alex David ‘Fuzzy’ Bourgeois, Jr.; brother, Leonard Terry Feast.

She leaves to cherish memories: a loving husband, William Salters, Sr.; daughters, Renee Moore (Willie), Andrea Powell (Lloyd); stepdaughter,  Jackie Salters; stepsons, Williams Salters, Jr., Kenneth Fleeton; devoted sisters, Evelyn Bullard (James), Carolyn Douglas, June, Pamela,  Diane, and Sandra Gordon; brothers, Robert  and Kenneth Gordon; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; devoted granddaughter and caregiver, Hattie L. Moore (David); devoted friends, Sherry Taylor, Linda Gipson, Darlene Scott and Ms. Tina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 14, 2010, followed by a service celebrating her life at 11:00 AM at the Avenue L Baptist Church with Pastor E.R. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
