Raymond Benson
Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Raymond Benson, 70 of Galveston, went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at his home with his wife next to his side. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 10;30 am at Central Baptist Church, 5302 Ave R in Galveston, Texas with a reception to follow.

Raymond was born September 25, 1939 in Galveston, Texas to Arthur Fred Benson and Annie May Meadows and was raised by his grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Meadows. He was retired from UTMB after 30 years of dedicated service in the plumbing department. His hobbies were fishing which he enjoyed very much and working in his garage. He was devoted to his family and his greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. He was a dedicated member of Central Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his mother Annie Mae Meadows, his father Arthur Fred Benson, brother, Arthur Benson and wife, Linda and Grandma and Grandpa Meadows, Raymond is survived by his wife of 49 years, Myrna Benson of Galveston; his children, Raymond Benson, Jr. and wife, Cindy and daughter, Kimberly Benson Meadows; grandchildren, Justice Benson, Joseph Steelman, Cheyenne Meadows, Emmie Benson; great granddaughter, Katlyn Renee Smith Benson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Raymond was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Raymond’s name to Central Baptist Church.
