Adult Reading Center, Pearland Center host open house for employers

The Adult Reading Center and Alvin Community College will host an open house for employers who utilize workers with industrial electrical technology (IET) and programmable logic controller (PLC) skills on Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Pearland Center.

“It’s important to build relationships and connect with employers in the community,” Adult Reading Center Program Coordinator Connie Loh said. “We want to invite employers to learn about our programs, visit our facilities, meet with our instructors and learn about our students so they know where to hire when the time comes.”

The Adult Reading Center and ACC have been working together through a grant since the beginning of the year to help prepare and train people for careers in IET and PLC at no cost.

The partnership works to improve the success rate of participants by improving their reading, writing and basic communication skills in addition to providing them with high quality technical training from the Texas State Technical College programs offered at the Pearland Center.

The Pearland Center is located at 2319 N. Grand Boulevard. For more information and to RSVP before Aug. 23, contact Adult Reading Center Program Coordinator Connie Loh at (281) 485-1000 or connie.loh@sbcglobal.net.
