Carnes Brothers Funeral Home

Mardi OrtizMardi Ortiz age 41 of Galveston passed away Friday, August 13, 2010 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. Funeral services are 10:00 am Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Tuesday with a rosary to be recited at 6:30pm.

Mardi was born in Galveston on October 19, 1968 to Julian S. Ortiz and Eva F. Ortiz. He attended Ball High School and was a contract painter with the Texas A & M fisheries. Mardi loved his boys and was proud of their athletic accomplishments. He enjoyed attending their games and sporting events as good family time.   

Mardi is preceded in death by his father, Julian S. Ortiz. Survivors include his mother, Eva Ortiz; sons, Zane, Alexander, and Mardi Nico Ortiz; brothers, Vincent S. Ortiz and San Jacinto Ortiz; sisters, Arline Ortiz, Juanita Ortiz, and Mona-Julissa Andrade; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Mardi Nico Ortiz, Alexander Ortiz, Zane Ortiz, Vincent Ortiz, San Jacinto Ortiz, Ray Gutierrez, Jr., Felipe Castaneda, Jr., Henry Castaneda and Eddie Flores. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Gutierrez, Sr. and Alfredo Picazo, Jr.
