Brazoria County Commissioners Court, in a special meeting on Tuesday, voted unanimously to appoint Kathy Wootton as human resources director.
Wootten will take the position with a salary of $82,033 per year.
The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a pass-through funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation for road projects along Highway 36.
The improvement of Highway 36 was made part of the county's Mobility Plan in 2004, with a goal of providing a primary evacuation route for the county and the Gulf Coast. The projects include the overlay and restriping of Highway 36 and a grade separation over the future State Highway 35 section in West Columbia, widening of the highway in the City of Brazoria, and construction of an "elevated T intersection" at Highway 36 and FM 1495, with access roads.
The total project is expected to cost $47.74 million.
