Barbara C. (Mraz) Gonzales

Barbara GonzalesBarbara Gonzales was born in Galveston, Texas on February 4, 1940, to parents, Fred and Melvina Mraz.  She attended and graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1958 and worked for various travel agencies in Galveston.  She married Benny Gonzales in 1962 at St. Patrick Catholic Church and moved to Houston, where she worked for Gulliver’s Travel Agency for ten years.  Barbara then opened her own travel agency in the FM 1960 area called Northwest Passage.  Ten years later, she sold the business and went to work for American Express.  Barbara was a faithful member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church of Houston.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Benny Gonzales; daughters, Cindy Ezell and Lisa Thomas; son, Monte Gonzales; sisters, Deana Harrington and Mary Lou Mraz; and grandchildren: Christopher Gonzales, Justin Gonzales, Trevor Chamberlain, Tara Thomas, Lauren Thomas, Dillon Thomas, and Tyler Ezell. 

Barbara’s family will receive visitors from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, in Galveston.  A rosary and funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, led by Deacon John Pistone, and burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
