Zita “Zitina” Celli Dell’OssoZita “Zitina” Celli Dell’Osso, 99, died peacefully on Saturday, September 18, 2010. Born January 9, 1911, on Galveston Island to Dario and Elisa (Ghiselli) Celli, Zitina was poised to celebrate her 100th birthday. She is preceded in death by her husband, Renato Dell’Osso, her infant daughter Zita, and her sisters Assunta “Susie” Celli, Mary Celli Dell’Osso, and Gioele Celli Belluomini.

Zitina lived in Galveston for the majority of her life, with the exception of ten years when she and her family lived in Lucca, Italy. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where she and Renato married in 1943. A dedicated homemaker, her family was always the most important part of her life. Through the years, Zitina participated in the Altar Society at St. Patrick, supported activities with her sons at Kirwin High School, and helped to create several Galveston Mardi Gras queens’ coronation capes. Her family and friends will remember her generous spirit, high standards, attention to detail, and love of fashion.

Zitina is survived by two sons, Renato, Jr. and wife, Donna of Tiki Island, and Domenic and wife, Sheila, of Houston; seven grandchildren, Susan, of Chicago, IL, Lisa Barnett and husband Walker, of Houston, Renato III and wife Mary, of Jonesboro, AK, Domenic, Jr. and wife Nicole, of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert and wife Cheryl of Cary, NC, Sabrina Wilson and husband Justin, of Houston, Mark and wife Liesel, of Galveston; nine great-grandchildren, Celli and Frances Barnett, Renato Dell'Osso,IV, Matthew, Noah and Isabella Dell'Osso, Sophia Dell'Osso, Sibley and Wyatt Wilson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 21, with a rosary to be held at 6:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, September 22, also at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston. 

Pallbearers will be Renato Dell'Osso, III, Domenic Dell'Osso, Jr, Robert Dell'Osso, Mark Dell'Osso, Luino Dell'Osso and Paul Dell'Osso.  Lawrence Del Papa will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Holy Family Parish, 1010 35th Street, Galveston, TX 77550, or to the charity of your choice.
