Brazoria County Water Protection Meetings

Freeport, Texas - The Sea Center Texas hosts this meeting at 300 Medical Drive in Lake Jackson, Texas on Thursday, October 21, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the conference room. Another meeting with the same agenda will be held at the Brazoria County Environmental Center on 10310 FM 523 in Freeport on Tuesday, October 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the conference room.  The schedule for the Open Houses is a discussion of the ongoing Bastrop Bayou Watershed Planning Project followed by discussions on project proposals, and comments on the  Watershed Protection Plan.  A discussion period follows the presentations.  Attend one of these meetings and help to formulate the watershed plan with your ideas for managing Bastrop Bayou!

Bastrop Bayou is one of the last unchannelized bayous along the upper Texas coast.  Tremendous growth is predicted here in the future. A watershed protection plan guides the management of vital water resources.  This plan will also address elevated bacteria concentration concerns.  Sponsors for the watershed protection plan are Houston-Galveston Area Council, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, and the Galveston Bayou Estuary Program.
