H-GAC Announces Public Meetings on the Regional Goods Movement Study
Four Open House Meetings Scheduled

HOUSTON – The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is announcing four public meetings within the H-GAC eight-county transportation region. Addressing the  increasing demand for freight and goods movement in the Houston-Galveston Region is critical to the Region’s economic vitality and quality of life. Because of the importance of goods movement to all of us, the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is undertaking a Regional Goods Movement Study that identifies and prioritizes improvements and strategies to accommodate and enhance mobility of both people and goods while mitigating the negative impacts on congestion, safety, environment and quality of life.

All public meetings will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m

Your participation is needed! The purpose of the meetings will be to share some information on how goods movement impacts you and we want to hear your thoughts and concerns about freight activity in your community. The Houston-Galveston Area Council is a voluntary association of local governments in the 13-county Gulf Coast Planning Region – an area of 12,500 square miles and more than 5.7 million people. The State of Texas designated H-GAC as the region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for transportation planning for Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery and Waller counties.

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, H-GAC will provide for reasonable accommodations for person attending H-GAC functions. Requests from persons needing special accommodations should be received by H-GAC staff 24 hours prior to a function. The public meeting will be conducted in English, and requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should be made at least two working days prior to a function.
