Pearland City Council on Monday voted unanimously to approve an update of the Master Parks Plan.
The city consulted with the firm of Kendig Keast Collaborative on the plan, which is updated every five years to meet eligibility requirements for grant funding.
“The process involved information gathering from various departments, such as planning and projects, hosting user group meetings, posting an online community survey, Internet research, as well as various presentations and discussions with staff and the Parks and Recreation and Beautification Board,” Parks and Recreation Department Director Michelle Smith said.
The city council voted unanimously to appoint Mayor Tom Reid as representative and Woody Owens as alternate to the Houston-Galveston Area Council 2011 General Assembly and Board of Directors.
The city council voted unanimously to appoint Sammy Lucario and Terry Ruiz to the Library Board.
The city council tabled action on authorizing a $458,850 contract with Wilbur Smith Associates for traffic engineering services.
Under the contract, the firm would assist in developing a Traffic Management Plan. The city is currently working with the Texas Department of Transportation regarding the transfer of maintenance of traffic signals to the city.
The city council tabled action regarding the second amended bylaws of the Pearland Economic Development Corporation. The item was tabled at a previous meeting and remains on the agenda with no action taken.
The city council took no action regarding the hiring of a fire chief for the City of Pearland. The item was discussed during an executive session.
