“HOLIDAY MEMORIES”
EVENTS FOR GRIEVING CHILDREN

To cap off our year’s events for grieving children, Hospice Care Team, Inc. (HCT) is pleased to announce our special Holiday Memories events for children and teens between the ages of 5 and 16 who are grieving the death of a loved one.

Traditionally, the holiday time is special for families, a time when losses are felt more acutely by children and teens, just as they are for the adults who love and care for them. In response to this need, our Holiday Memories events for Grieving Children are going to be offered in two locations this year, to reach out to youngsters who are grieving the death of a loved one during this special time.

Sponsored by a grant from Yaga’s Children’s Fund, the goal is to show grieving youngsters that the upcoming holiday season is a time when good memories can be balanced with sadness. By encouraging your child or teen to attend this event, you give them a special gift; permission to talk about their loss with their peers and grief counselors, and help them to honor the memory of their loved one(s) while they embrace the joy of the season.

Holiday Memories will be held at HCT’s Lake Jackson office on December 11th, between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and at our Texas City office on December 18th, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. With special age-appropriate activities and a time of sharing, children and teens will use their creativity to remember their loved ones in a different way this year. Led by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, activities will include remembering holidays past, holiday-themed crafts, a fun-filled pizza lunch, and a special balloon release to help grieving youngsters find closure from their loss.

Hospice Care Team is a non-profit, community-based hospice, serving, Friendswood, Clear Lake, Pasadena, Deer Park, Southeast Houston, Galveston and Brazoria Counties and surrounding areas since 1983. The Holiday Memories event is free of charge, but space is limited. For additional information, or to RSVP, please contact Rebecca Deaton, LCSW, at (409) 938-0070 or (800) 545-8738.
