Brazoria County Commissioners Court on Tuesday voted unanimously to authorize the director of the Parks Department to implement parking rules. 

The Parks Department can implement rules placing time limits on parking in specific areas, limit the use of parking spaces by certain types of vehicles, or prohibit parking in certain areas.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to form a Judicial Technology Committee. The committee will consist of one person each from several departments, including: Adult Probation, Constables, County Courts, County Clerk, District Courts, District Clerk, District Attorney, Justices of the Peace, Juvenile Probation, Sheriff’s Office, Auditor’s Office, and Information Systems.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to advertise for statements of qualifications for engineering services related to the bridge that crosses the Brazos River on County Road 521 in Brazoria. The services include evaluation of the bridge, and design of a hike and bike segment for the bridge.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint Matt Glaves to the Emergency Service District No. 3 Board of Directors. Glaves will replace Ernest Dupuis on the board.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Darrell Valusek to the Emergency Service District No. 3 Board of Directors.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Lisa Greak to the Children’s Protective Services Board of Directors.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Sharon Dickerson to the Children’s Protective Services Board.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint Bill Oelske to the Mosquito Control Advisory Board. Oelske will fill the unexpired term of I.J. Brown.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to extend a lease with the Brazoria Heritage Foundation for a one year term. The foundation is leasing former classroom space in Brazoria Elementary School, which currently houses the Brazoria County WIC Program for the City of Brazoria. The commissioners court also authorized an additional classroom space to be used as a health department clinic.

An item to authorize Liberty Mutual Insurance to market discount auto and home insurance to county employees, to be paid through payroll deductions, was pulled from the agenda for no action.

The commissioners court took no action regarding potential litigation in connection with the fire at the Alvin Public Library. The item was discussed during an executive session.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
