Nelly Virginia Eggleston

Nelly Virginia EgglestonNelly Virginia Eggleston entered into eternal rest on December 4, 2010. She was born at St. Mary’s Infirmary in Galveston, Texas, on April 30, 1925 to Albrecht and Selma Henkel Rothfuchs. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Erica Martin.


To her family she leaves precious and fond memories for them to cherish. Her husband and her children were her life’s commitment.  She married Seldon S. Eggleston, Jr., and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.  She is survived by her loving husband, her devoted children, Stephen Eggleston and wife, Sandra, of Texas City; Mary Hostetter Claywell and husband, Jerry, of St. Louis, MO; Linda Perryman and husband, James, of Nacogdoches; Jeannie Larson and husband, Don, of Merrimack, NH; and Bobby Eggleston and wife, Melissa, of Houston; and one brother, Albrecht Rothfuchs, and wife, Annemarie.


She adored her precious grandchildren, Kimberly Warner and Kelly Kendall; Jennifer Linton and Rebecca Eggleston; Jay, Leslie and Paige Perryman; Sara and Matthew Larson; and Elizabeth, Addie, Sam and Emma Eggleston. Great grandchildren are Brett and Ryan Martin, Gabriella Iovieno and Avery Linton, and Sophia Kendall.


She was educated in Galveston Public Schools and was an Honorary Ursuline Alumnae. She enjoyed her years working as a paraprofessional at O’Connell Junior High School in the History and Religion Resource Center and at O’Connell High School Library.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, her computer, sewing, listening to music, reading and traveling.


Pallbearers are Paul Bohn, John Knust, Dennis Byrd, Bobby Heyer, and grandsons, Jay Perryman and Sam Eggleston.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Daulong, Eddie Janek, and Tommy “Boomer” Marinelli.


Her family will receive visitors at Malloy & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm with a rosary immediately following.  Funeral services will be at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Thursday at 10 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St Patrick Catholic Church or any charity of your choice.    


The family would like to thank Dr. Nancy Hughes, the Staff at UTMB, Texas Home Health, and Gulf Health Care Center.
